Burrard Dry Dock App

I am thrilled to announce that I will be working with Presentation House Gallery as the researcher, writer and creator of an interactive, site-specific app that looks at the heyday of the Burrard Dry Dock in North Vancouver. The year is 1943.  Fifteen thousand workers in one shipyard – unions, anti-union sentiment, back room dealings, women in the work force, alcohol and shipbuilding. Island

The project that Deanne Achong and I created for the City of Richmond’s Public Art Program now has a permanent home at the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site.  Island is a 6 minute looped projection created from footage taken from a boat that circumnavigated Lulu Island. I am thrilled to have the work honoured in this way. To have an artwork in a permanent location where thousands of people will see it is a great thing.
